It's been more than 10 years, and it still doesn't feel right to celebrate Independence day on the 4th.

My home town was either the 2nd or the 3rd place to have the Declaration publically read (two different places disagree on who got there first) and we always celebrated on that day.

It was called Heritage Day, and the day always kicked off with a reading of the Declaration of Independence.  Always.  With actors and flintlocks and Huzzah's.

The buildings linked to our founding fathers were always open, and tours were given with commentary.

The history of the day, of the time, of the war - it was deeply linked to the celebration.  I am certain it was possible to avoid and ignore with effort.  But I miss it.

<giggle>  Learn something everyday.

I was on the first on-line multiplayer gaming system.  Shadow of Yserbius.  I was so sure that something had to come before, but someone told me nope, wikipedia supports it, and I can't find anything else earlier.

I wonder if I have encountered any I gamed with then in other incarnations.
