Guys, you all know me. I am a pessimist.
I am not worried about swine flu. Not unless I find myself having to go to Mexico.
So far, they think it's got a 1 day incubation period.
It's not spreading all that rapidly. Not outside of Mexico. I know they keep announcing more and more cases, but that's more the news trying to make news, than it spreading rapidly.
So, I am not currently worried about public transportation. No mask for me. I am making an effort to wash my hands more often, and touch my face less, but then again, that's always good advice, and that's more a matter of being constantly reminded.
And really, that's the best way to prevent getting sick. Washing your hands. I laugh at you if you think you need antibacterial soap. (You don't. Some studies show it's actually harmful). But wash your hands. Don't touch your face. You will get less sick overall if you can keep remembering to do those two things.
Perhaps it will turn out this flu does become a worldwide problem and we have to worry. But right now? It's not the end of the world.
Ten of thousands of people die each from the flu. Keep that in mind when the news reports the numbers.
