Insomnia has set in.

The natural food store by Todai's had a sale on bottle waters.  Since insomnia often goes hand in hand with dehydration for me, I overstocked on flavor only - no sugar or artifical sugar - waters.

Mostly Hint, some Metromint and some Fragile Planet Organic - which is a brand that I have never heard of.

Which leads us to today's edition of trying things so you don't have to -

Fragile Planet Organic Water - Vanilla Flavor.

it's vanilla ice cream.  without the cream.  and only it's water.  but it's that same damn vanilla taste as most of the normal brands of vanilla ice cream - breyers or dreyers or such, not Ben and Jerry's or Haagen Daaz.

vanilla ice cream water.

It's better than the Chocolate Mint Metromint.  At least this one is wet.  Strangely, I think it's growing on me, which is perturbing.  If I turn into a pile of sentient man-eating goo, you know you to blame the water.

I spent Wed night playing Rock Band/rping my high schooler Secret Invasion character.

I love drums.  I so very love drums.  I got an 87% on easy on a song!

Thursday was Secret Invasion.  Again.  Which is seriously great.

Then Friday had a downer of a headache, but the store that sells me the delightful East Coast sodas had Aleve.  I sometimes think that store is a expression of love from the Universe - it had headphones when I needed them to stay sane (at only $2), it has sodas to keep me from getting homesick, occasionally stocks European chocolates (oddly enough when I need them most), has corn muffins (CORN MUFFINS!) and how many stores have single packet Aleve?  Apparently the guy remembered conversations with several of his regulars where we had randomly talked about using that more than the other pain killers he had, so he stocked up.   It's the miracle shop.  Now if only could get birch beer...

Friday continued with a nap, then more Secret Invasion.  Abby was surprised to win homecoming queen (even though she had been campaigning hard for herself and her cousin - she thought her cousin the cheerleader would win or the magically enhanced head chearleader that makes the other cheerleaders lose their inhibitions).  Then the dance was interrupted by giant fireball and doom and destruction.  Such is the life of a superpowered teen.  I love that character.     She's the kind of girl who can be very, very grateful that the high school member of the villain team came and sat with her when her brother was burned and unconscious in the hospital, and still be worried that they should be turning in the same villain team and that they are wrong for not doing so because the villians know their secret identity.    But then, the villians will end up in the gulang, and maybe they are redeemable - and won't be in they go to jail without a trial - so what is a girl to do?  Hug the villain as you send her home, and try to be friendly and a good example, knowing you might have to beat them down to stop them at a future date.

Saturday was Call of Cthulu - which I failed at.  Enabled the winning of the game for the others, but my husbanding seeking hedonist ended up permently in the body of her worst enemy - a male not as rich body at that.  I didn't have as much fun at that game because I had one character goal - find someone to love her - and every male in the group was engaged/married/in love with another PC/hated her.

Seriously, I can get over playing a 1930s one dimensional character, but can I pretty please have a goal that I can actually pursue?

I spent yesterday shopping and chopping/blanching/freezing veggies.

I gots me a Mr. Coffee ice tea maker!  Scarlet_storm has one, and I am obessive with ice tea, so when BB&B had one for $20, I had to get it.

We shall see, my precious, we shall see if it is as good for me as it was for her.

There are lots of peppers frozen, chopped and ready to be put in foods - thus solving my  "I like peppers and there are no pre-mixed pepper frozen veggies that aren't mostly icky veggies or have onions in the mix" problem.

When one is a picky eater, they must make their own fun.  When one is highly allergic to the most common veggie, then one is compelled to make their own fun, or not eat.

Got caught up in Supernatural yesterday.  Oh, Sam, Sam, Sam... going evil to save your friend and family _never_ turns out well.

My Seanan McGuire CD - Red Roses and Dead Things - is on it's way to me, and I shall have to stalk the mailbox this week.

It's Mad.  SCIENCE!!!!  and zombies and supernatural creepy things.  What's not to love!  I cannot recommend her enough, I really can't.

Tonight is Lost!!!!!!!

Friday and Saturday I made -

1. Chocolate Chip
2. Orange Chocolate Chip
3. Eggnog cookies (with added Rum! Real Rum!)
4. Snickerdoodles
5. Triple Chocolate (brownie) Cookies
6. Applesauce Spice Cookies (with added spice!)
7. Peanut Butter Kisses
8. Chocolate Andes Cookies
9. Mint Snow-tops
10. Chocolate Mint M&M cookies

I did not get to the caramel chocolate chip, the spritz, or the black bottom cupcakes.

After finishing 8 batches in a day where I finished up my Christmas shopping, I collapsed to burn mix CDs, and then passed out. I woke up sick and/or massive allergy attack. I am tending to allergy, as my only symptom is stuffed up head/runny nose/heartburn - and the heartburn one tends to go with the asthma. Something yesterday clearly set me off. I wonder if it was the cloves for the spicy cookie? I don't normal use them - and clove cigerettes have been as bad as real ones for the purposes of trying to breathe.

But they do taste oh, so good.

This time I used my Marvel group as test subjects.  Hi guys!

So, Target has 7 Jones 2008 sodas this year.  4 in cans, 3 in bottles.  Yes, I am the person who switched the cans/bottles so that they were not all the same kind - I am  not spending $25 on soda.  I got one 4 pack of cans, and 1 four pack of sodas, which, woe is me, lead to 2 of one kind in the bottle.  Sadly, not the good kind.  My ability to judge the bad in advance was at all time low...

The line-up is... )

Not all bad, but only about 3 that I really would buy again.  I miss the caramel apple.  And the red licorice.  Though I didn't get to try the red licorice.  I miss it on general principle.

The problem with being recovering from being sick is that my immune system is stressed.

I got very sick  very late last night - stomach and so forth, and was stressing that I was getting sick again.  Felt fine this morning, fine until I eat and drank, and then, voila, sick.  I had gone to the movies, and was worried that staying up to 2 am was a very bad idea, even though I had been fine for a day and a half.

So I look at at what I ate.  Normal food.  Food I ate yesterday without problem.

Then I look at what I am drinking.  Same thing I drank at the movies - Dragonfruit Vitaminwater.  They had a special of a bottle for a dollar which is much cheaper than normal, so I got one for the movies, and one for home.  I ended up drinking most of the first bottle after the movie.

So the Dragonfruit isn't artificially colored anymore.  Now it is colored with vegetable juice.

One bet what the most common red vegetable juice used to color is?  That's right.  Tomato juice.  I have been drinking death and not knowing it.   It's probably small enough that I don't know the upset to my system most of the time.  But right now when cigarette smoke makes me cough for an hour and the fumes from frying onions makes my skin break out?

Nope, I can't handle that tiny amount of raw tomato right now.  It's like I sat down and munched half a tomato, and now I know why I was so horrendously sick last night.

I don't want to read the label on everything I eat and drink, but I am going to have to for a week or so.

I haz  Trader Joe's Dutch Chocolate pudding and Extremely Vanilla cookies.

I haz Birch Beer.  Yez, boy took me to BevMo so I could get Birch Beer.  I very very happy.

Fireworks were good, stupid propaganda not so good.  But good food and memory of good fireworks make bad taste go away.

Evil Water

So, I am never hydrated enough.  I just can't.  I do not like the taste of water unless it's fresh from a clean well, and well, that doesn't happen all that often.

So I am constantly searching for flavored waters without sugar or fake sugar in them.  My hips don't need the sugar, and my brain hates the fake sugar and proceeds to express it's displeasure with sharp knives.  Or at least pain that feels like someone is stabbing me in my brain.

I have found Hint Waters and Metromint.  Ralph's stocks Hint waters, but only in two flavors that I like (Peppermint and Pear)(and I mope because the Hint website has a ton of flavors.  <mope mope mope> and yes, I have expressed my displeasure to Ralphs.  Sadly, they care not.)  and Metromint comes in four flavors - Peppermint, Orangemint, Lemonmint, and Spearmint.  As Spearmint is both evil and disgusting, that leaves with me three flavors for Metromint.

Now,  a little store downtown sells the Metromint.  I am known, when I know that I really, really, really need to drink some water that day (in that way that the body has of telling you that 18 ozs of liquid you drank yesterday just doesn't cut it), to stop and get a bottle or two.

Today, today, they had CHERRYmint.  Cherry.  And Mint.  This could either be very, very, very good or very very bad.  The bottle taunts me, speaking to me of the great evil that is contained within.  Do I dare open it and taste it?  I mean.... Cherry... and Mint...

Two tastes that don't really go together.

My boss has found me birch beer.  There is a store in Eagle Rock - Galco's that sells 100's of soda's, imported, strange, and old fashioned kinds.  I just need to figure out how to get there, because the shipping is very expensive (it's glass bottles).

Eagle Rock.  That's a day on the bus.  <sigh>  Birch beer.
