Random ramblings

So. It is bitter cold. Frost on the ground, can see my own breath, head for the hills and stock the pantry cold.
Seriously. If I didn't know better I would be expecting SNOW. In Southern California. Where there is no snow and there is supposed to be sun and warmth.
I came out here for Sun and Warmth. Well, that and how damn far it was from PA, but really, where is my sun and warmth? Tikiera's do not do cold. Cold is for people crazy enough to live in the northern half of the country.
<whimpers> I know it's winter, but can we please give the northerner's back their temperature?
I would go curl up by the tree and read, but again, it's too damn cold that far away from the heater. Even with blankets. Woe is me. I must sit on the computer some more and read random fanfiction. At least the computer generates heat.
Not enough heat, but heat nonetheless. I should bake again. When the oven is on, the house gets nice and warm, but first I must brave the chill for a few batches. And who will eat the cookies? All my friends have deserted me for colder climates (where there is actual white stuff on the ground) or are too far from where I am to gift with cookies. Cold, cold, cold.
I gotz lots of books though. They do call to me. I have read five of them already, and am more than half way through them. Though I do have a Border's gift card, so there will be more books, but I hafta to wait until after the 2nd when all the new paperbacks come out. But until then I must ration the books. I have a whole weekend to get through. And should not use the gift card until the 2nd.
'Cause for some reason Jan 2 is the day new paperbacks come out. Not December 23, or 22, or some time when you can list them as gifts. Jan 2. That wonderful day of WORK. I shall have to stalk the bookstore on my lunch hour. If the cold will let up enough to allow me to leave my work space heater.
Too bad I can't catch the entire bookstore and bring it home with me. I bet books would make excellent insulation. Until I had to take one down to read and the whole wall fell on me.
I got several short story compliations, and I have to say, Laurell K. Hamilton is rapidly losing any appeal to me. I have Dresden files to fill the romance section, and there are a ton of writers writing supernatural romance. With story with their porn. I like story with my porn and sadly, Laurell K. Hamilton tends to be all porn and not much story. I got A Lick of Frost for Christmas. We shall see if it is story with porn, or porn with very little story. If it is all porn, Laurell and I are finished. I swear it. For real this time. I will not keep going back to her books like the crack they are. Really, truly, really.
Speaking of it licking...
Lick It One More Time is the magical disappearing BPAL. It's all wonderfully peppermint and vanilla and yet somehow CANDY CANE when it goes on, but an hour later it is only vanilla.
I have yet to meet a scent locket under $20 that I like, and can't afford more than that, so instead I glare at my imp and try to will it to last longer. But I do not think a bottle of it will have a home with me. It smells wonderful, but I like staying power.
The boy got me a bottle of Pinched. So I find myself with a wealth of Pinched. Two whole bottles. A bottle for me, and a bottle to swap. No one has Mabon (ah, Mabon. Odes of joys and loves and happiness to thee), at least not a bottle that they wish to swap, so It will have to be imped out. An imp to scarlet_storm 'cause she is of the Good, and then I have to decide what imps to try for. Underpants and Mabon of course, but that still leaves 3 imps. I am thinking of just giving an imp away because of the loveliness of getting an imp of Crypt Queen free makes me feel very generous. Will have to work out a way to do a random drawing or figure out a way to enable a newbie.
I got El Dia De Reyes and Snow Storm for Christmas. I had changed my mind about Snow Storm, and then I wore it and the boy said he liked it and asked what it was. I told him and he smiled, and then a sort time later, I opened the package with the bottle of it and was very happy. 'Cause I like to wear perfume he likes, and the list is growing slowly, my precious, slowly.
If Snow/Glass/Apples comes out he will WEAR it.
He doesn't wear cologne. Or aftershave. So, please, by all the that is green and growing, let it come out soon.
Next will call would be nice. Just saying.
Not that I want a bottle or anything myself. Except I do. Very much so.
